Francisco Uzabeaga Chilean, b. 1978

Francisco Uzabeaga is a visual artist, Bachelor in Visual Arts by the Universidad de Chile. He began drawing and painting at the age of 7, developing his pictorial language by copying images from Chilean educational magazines and encyclopaedias from the 1980s, such as Icarito, Salvat, and newspaper supplements of the time.

By copying the defects in found images, reproducing each printing phenomenon (chromatic details, paper textures, mismatches, etc.) with a virtuous hyper-realistic technique that restores the image to the category of Fine Arts, Francisco creates a visual reflection about the cultural effects of the era of mechanical and digital reproduction.

His work has been exhibited in Chile, Argentina, Turkey, and Hong Kong, and is part of renowned public and private collections in Latin America and Turkey.

Francisco Uzabeaga lives and works in Santiago.
