The Invisible Cage | Victor Castillo
Curatorial Text | Miguel López 14 November 2018 - 2 January 2019 The exhibition consists of a sculptural installation along with 15 large and medium-sized paintings in which Víctor depicts innocent characters that –with irony and sarcasm, in between games– show us the dark side of the contemporary society, where the violence natural to humankind, hypocrisy in politics, racism and the unabashed greed of capitalism take place. In his new proposal, Víctor approaches the indoctrination that education can provoke as an invisible cage. In The Invisible Cage, Castillo will present his central piece, The Magic Spell of the Bell, painting inspired by a song by rock band Pink Floyd. The painting is a chronicle of a classroom where a group of children repeats hypnotized, “I will not start a revolution. I will not start a revolution. I will not start a revolution”. Read more -

Through the works representing animals, such as cows and birds and a distinctive realistic technique, the artist makes no direct reference to agriculture or livestock, which in the place where he lives, the west coast of Norway, have had to increase and maximize its production systems, nor to the environmental problems that contemporaneity entails, but rather uses representation to question the information that the spectator has of the animal and its state. Infiltradax | Juvenal Barría
Curatorial Text | Andrea Aguad 10 - 30 May 2018 Barría, a visual artist and photographer, graduated in art from the University of Playa Ancha, Valparaíso, presents an installation made up of video, slides and photography. This new research and production arises from the process of collecting photographic files: 42 color slides in their original frame of the late Agfa company, which record the journey of a lonely woman through different cities of the world between the 1960s and 1970s. .
From this found material, the construction of a new story is proposed, which addresses gender issues, and social aspects such as loneliness, inclusion and discrimination. In "INFILTRADAX" the artist offers us a fiction that is articulated from the simulacrum, simulation and hyper-reality. “La Nana”, a transvestite character, was born in 2007 as part of the artist's performative work, which in this exhibition infiltrates the image, installing a disturbing visual hybridization and constructing alternative and anomalous stories, open to different readings. Lovesong | Wladymir Bernechea
Virtual Exhibition 28 April - 23 June 2021 Isabel Croxatto Galería presents Lovesong, solo exhibition by the artist Wladymir Bernechea. The show, curated by Chilean researcher Sebastián Valenzuela-Valdivia, gathers 24 recent paintings that transit between loneliness and longing in a silent battle between black and white, to be presented online starting 28 April in the virtual space ICG+.
The exhibition title, Lovesong, is a direct reference to the song of the same name by the British band The Cure from 1989, coincidentally also the year of the artist's birth. 'Whenever I'm alone with you, you make me feel whole again... However far away, I will always love you' sings Robert Smith, the band's frontman, over a dark pop-tinged melody. In the same way, Wladymir Bernechea explores recurring themes in his production, such as loneliness, melancholy and introspection, through faces, figures and blurred landscapes that silently appear between the sublimation of the whites and the gloom of the blacks. Virtual Exhibition 30 September - 20 November 2020 Isabel Croxatto Galería is pleased to present After Nature by Andrea Wolf, inaugural exhibition of our new virtual gallery space, ICG+.
After Nature presents a collection of 23 digitally manipulated botanical illustrations that explore our hypermediated relationship with nature, and how it has been heightened during the pandemic. Each species is affected by a custom-made pixel-sorting algorithm, resulting in mutations that create tensions in the aesthetic idea of nature as something that can be dominated, classified, and possessed.
After Nature features the soundscape 'Estela', created specially for the exhibition by experimental Puerto Rican composer Angélica Negrón, as well as curatorial text by Chilean academic and poet Macarena Urzúa. Read more -
