'This is an embroidered portrait of my family. It represents the families of many out there. I want to help construct a collective identity that will unite us in a diverse "us". By symbolising different ways of being family —based in love and not in the stagnant conventions imposed by a system that caged and marginalised us—, I express my wish that, by being proud of who we are, we'll establish the social imaginary of a new reality that will include us all through freedom, equality and respect.'
