Hide and Seek is an unprecedented collaboration project between Chilean artists Víctor Castillo and Andrea Lería. Presented by Isabel Croxatto Galería and The Sofa Hotel for Contemporary Istanbul 2018.
This collaboration is born from two artists that had never met before, but have something in common: they are both Chilean immigrants – Víctor lives in Los Angeles (CA), Andrea in Barcelona. Both of them are represented by Isabel Croxatto Galería, based in Santiago, their homeland. The artists visit Turkey for the first time, and to celebrate this encounter they have decided to join their distinctive artistic aesthetics and vision in a live performance mural painting.
Games and Art are both languages shared between individuals, nations, and cultures. Hide and Seek is a universal childhood game and for both artists an excuse to open, in the context of the magical and historical city of Istanbul, a question on the multicultural ways of experiencing migration and belonging.
The mural Hide and Seek, painted on site at the fair with live audience, is now part of The Sofa Hotel's art collection.
