"My work begins with understanding rust as a form of painting and consequently, viewing painting as a process. This rusting process is a deliberate and accelerated reminder of impermanence and mortality, perhaps the most fundamental and archaic of our passions. It explores the temporality and transience of painting, conveying the idea that all things are destined to vanish and transform into something new. Rust - that substance that forms on exposed metallic iron under certain conditions, generating multiple shades of colors and eroding the surface until it punctures it - is not merely a visual representation but symbolises the passage of time and the inevitable decay of everything around us."
