Isabel Croxatto Galería Presents the Second Edition of LA EMBAJADA in Madrid with the Award-Winning Artist Carolina Muñoz

News | Madrid, Spain
Isabel Croxatto Galería presents a new edition of its artistic residency programme LA EMBAJADA in Madrid, with the award-winning Chilean artist Carolina Muñoz, as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.

LA EMBAJADA is an artistic residency programme and production and exhibition fellowship conceived as part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations of Isabel Croxatto Galería, based on the virtuous relationship between its director, Isabel Croxatto, and the Chilean collector Roberto Piriz, whose philanthropic visions coincide in the desire to expand the vision of Chilean visual artists to the world.

LA EMBAJADA is conceived as a travelling residency, production and exhibition space dedicated to promote the internationalisation of emerging Chilean artists' careers.

The second edition of LA EMBAJADA is currently taking place in Madrid throughout October and November, in collaboration with Galería Nueva, a space directed by Spanish artist and cultural manager Daniel Silvo, with the participation of artist-in-residence Carolina Muñoz and the support of Chilean collectors Roberto Piriz and Víctor Leyton as patrons.

During her participation in LA EMBAJADA, Carolina will develop her production residency in the studios of Atelier Solar (C/ Arturio Soria 39), together with an Open Studio that will take place on Saturday, 14 October, from 11:00 to 19:00h.

This is the second edition of the LA EMBAJADA artistic production and exhibition fellowship and residency project. The first edition took place in Madrid in January and February 2023 with the Chilean artists Paloma Castillo (textile) and Vicente Prieto Gaggero (sculpture) and ended with two solo exhibitions at Galería Nueva, presented as part of the Madrid Art Week and in parallel to the ARCOmadrid fair. These activities met with great interest from the general and professional public and were visited by, among others, the Chilean Ambassador to Spain, Javier Velasco, the Chilean Cultural Attaché to Spain, Germán Berger, gallery owners, collectors and art lovers.

Carolina Muñoz (Santiago, 1985) is a prominent Chilean visual artist who has developed a methodical and consistent career in the Chilean and international art scene over the last decade. Carolina has been represented by Isabel Croxatto Galería since 2018, where she has presented the solo exhibitions Blanco Universal (2019) and Un Color Tiene Muchos Rostros (2021), as well as participating with the gallery in the art fairs Art Central (Hong Kong), Contemporary Istanbul (Turkiye), Ch.ACO (Chile) and arteBA (Argentina).

The artist was recently selected as the winner of the CCU Art Fellowship 2023, which will allow her to participate in a four-month artistic residency at the International Studio & Curatorship Program and an exhibition at PROXYCO Gallery in New York in early 2024, followed by a solo exhibition at the Sala de Arte CCU in Santiago. Other recognitions of Carolina's artistic career include the second prize in the Premio Artespacio Joven (2017), the second prize in the Premio MAVI Arte Joven (2018), the LazoCordillera Fellowship (2020), the third prize in the CCU Art Fellowship (2021), and her current nomination for the Guasch Coranty International Painting Prize in Barcelona, which will be decided soon.
