Andes France in Residency at R.A.R.O Barcelona: Exploring Identity and Queer Culture

NEWS | Barcelona, Spain

Chilean artist Andes France is currently participating in a residency at Casa R.A.R.O, an independent space located in the El Born district, in the historic center of the city. The residency runs from April 6 to May 1, concluding with an open studio open to the public.

Throughout the program, participants engage in visits to galleries and cultural spaces across Barcelona, as well as group critique sessions, fostering exchange and critical reflection around contemporary artistic practices.

Within this context, Quin is developing a project focused on the visual and social identity of Barcelona, with a particular emphasis on the city’s queer life. Drawing from his perspective as an artist and member of the LGBTQ+ community in Santiago, Chile, his work proposes a situated approach that intersects territory, identity, and perception, exploring new ways of engaging with urban space and its cultural codes.

His participation in this residency further strengthens the artist’s international projection and reflects Isabel Croxatto Galería’s ongoing commitment to supporting research, production, and circulation opportunities for its artists within global contexts.
