Performance work and record, part of the historical series A la Carne de Chile (1978 - 1983) by the Chilean artist Carlos Gallardo, executed in 1981 at the La Cisterna Slaughterhouse, Santiago, Chile. In this series, the artist captures the moment of death through the blood and fluids of the animals sacrificed in the slaughterhouse on canvas, like a modern-day Holy Shroud, recording the living process of killing. Later the artist shoots a self-portrait performance with the canvas in the background as a homage to Robert Capa's Death of a Loyalist Militiaman, set against the political context of Chile in the 1980s.
