A diffuse scene unfolds within a compressed, almost airless space where distances collapse. The three heads of the title inhabit it at incompatible scales: a monumental sculptural head dominates the background, a Greek sculpture stands before it, and at its feet emerges the head of Mario Bros. Monument, canon, and toy occupy the same pictorial plane, none able to assert itself as the image's central figure.
The blur completes this collapse. References become unstable, contours dissolve into one another, and recognition lingers just beyond certainty. Rather than depicting discrete objects, the painting stages their forced coexistence, compressing images of different origins, histories, and cultural status into a single visual field where distinctions begin to dissolve.
