Inspired by the iconic Butterfly eyeglasses worn by Peggy Guggenheim, this embroidery takes as its point of departure the extravagant frames originally designed in the 1950s by her friend, the American artist Edward Melcarth. More than an accessory, the glasses became inseparable from Guggenheim's public image, standing in here as a portrait shaped by memory, recognition, and absence.
