In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, El Mercurio highlights Isabel Croxatto Galería's new programme of digital exhibitions.
What used to be to crossing the gallery doors, is now equivalent to pressing play on a video. At least while there's a compulsory or voluntary quarantine. Just clicking on Isabel Croxatto Galería's website, the music of Miles Davis sets the atmosphere for El Turista, the new exhibition by Chilean artist Coco González Lohse and the first that the gallery presents exclusively through a virtual tour, which is also available in Artsy.
Although Isabel Croxatto had been exploring the digital –in order to reach foreign audiences–, the pandemic accelerated everything. She wanted to generate experiences, not just sales platforms. And so this virtual tour arose, which digitally constructs the showroom and presents a montage made from photos of the paintings — the exhibition was never physically installed. 'We worked with an architect and a complete team —Ms Croxatto explains—, to experiment. We are implementing a new way of communicating. We use the same ingredients of a physical instance, from working with a curator to visualising the artworks to mount, but it's virtual. It's pure learning'.
