News | Valparaíso, Chile
Our represented artists Chiachio & Giannone, Miss Van, Víctor Castillo, Paloma Castillo and Juvenal Barría are participating in the International Pavillion of the XII Valparaíso International Arts Biennale (BIAV) in Valparaíso, Chile.
The Valparaíso International Arts Biennale returns after 30 years, with the support of the City Council of Valparaíso and the Valparaíso community, to highlight and restore one of Chile's most important cultural landmarks.
Themed "Territories and Critical Citizenship," the 12th edition of the Biennale includes an Official Selection curated by Ecuadorian curator Hernán Pacurucu, Ecuadorian artist and cultural manager Karen Pazán, and local visual artist Paula López Droguett. It also features the International Pavilion, displaying over 60 artworks by local, Chilean, and foreign artists.
The historic Caralps Building, better known as La Nave [The Vessel] and constructed in 1912, hosts the International Pavillion in downtown Valparaíso, showcasing the paintings Pale Moonlight Muse IX and Loving Foxes with Muse by Miss Van, Justicia Divina and Talking in Your Sleep by Víctor Castillo; the textile artworks CUIR I by Chiachio & Giannone, and Sufragista and Pan by Paloma Castillo; and the film Memoria Alterada by Juvenal Barría.
Visit the International Pavillion of the XII Valparaiso International Arts Biennale from 9 May to 16 June 2024 at La Nave (Serrano 580) in Valparaíso.
