Coco González Lohse | Art and Platforms: the Challenges that Stress the Creative Process

Newspaper El Mercurio features artist Coco González Lohse and his virtual exhibition El Turista, presented by Isabel Croxatto Galería, in an article on art and digital platforms.

The technology was at hand, but compared to the reality installed by the COVID-19 the turn was 180°: exhibitions, concerts, dance works and festivals had to turn to the virtual.
How different is it to create a work so that it can only be seen on a screen? How is the relationship with the audience?

Artist Jorge "Coco" Gonzalez Lohse uses the concept of a tightrope to graph: 'The art world came out to use the Internet in a desperate wayit was the way to communicate! We are living a turning point: some want to continue in this virtuality, others need the presence. One thing is to make virtual art, another is to use those means for other purposes, as it was in my case'.

He refers to El Turista, the virtual exhibition he presented in April with Isabel Croxatto Galería. The digital medium allowed him to conquer a wide audience, national and foreign, and to sell most of his paintings. He also set himself a challenge: 'I would like to make a virtual exhibition with interactive renders and programmes that allow us to have an experience close to that of a video game', he says.
