Metro Toronto Convention Center, 28 October - 1 November 2026
Overview
BOOTH AS 5

From Gesture to Code, From Thread to Image

In a world saturated with images, what remains beyond what we can see?

For Art Toronto 2026, Isabel Croxatto Galería brings together Joaquín Reyes, Paloma Castillo, Carolina Muñoz, and Andrea Wolf for a presentation that explores how images construct meaning, preserve memory, and shape our relationship with the world. Moving between painting, hand embroidery, and new media, their practices challenge conventional forms of representation, opening spaces where intimacy, imagination, and perception intersect.

In his paintings, Joaquín Reyes transforms everyday situations into enigmatic scenes where gesture, repetition, and color disrupt familiar narratives. Paloma Castillo approaches embroidery as a critical and poetic language, reconfiguring cultural symbols and collective imaginaries through the intimate, patient gesture of the hand. In her new series, Carolina Muñoz explores ritual as a symbolic expression of human experience, constructing mysterious scenes in which repetitive gestures and actions evoke questions about identity, desire, and existence. Through her series Garden of Ghosts, Andrea Wolf investigates the fragile boundaries between nature, memory, and technology, using algorithmic processes to transform floral images into reflections on impermanence and the persistence of traces.

Together, their works reveal the image as a shifting territory of encounters and possibilities, where ambiguity, hybridity, and transformation offer new ways of seeing and inhabiting the contemporary world.
