Cecilia Avendaño Selected Finalist for the 2023 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize

News | Sydney, Australia
Isabel Croxatto Galería is proud to share that our represented artist Cecilia Avendaño has been selected as one of the 25 finalists for the iCanvas Digital Art Award at the 2023 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize.
Cecilia's selected artwork, CR 01 - Chrysalis, was presented in her solo exhibition Chrysalis shown at Isabel Croxatto Galería in early 2023. In her series, Cecilia reflects on the process of becoming a mother for the first time, in addition to having lived her pregnancy process during the confinement due to the pandemic, taking as an allegory the metamorphosis of butterflies: the caterpillar is enclosed in the darkness of the chrysalis, which nurtures and protects it while it dissolves inside, to later emerge as a fragile being, yet full of light.
You can vote for Cecilia's artwork for the People's Choice Award from 24 August through 7 September at beautifulbizarreartprize.art.
Winners in each category will be announced in mid-September.
The Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize is an annual non-acquisitive international art prize organised by Beautiful Bizarre Magazine that celebrates diversity and excellence in the representational visual arts.
