Chiachio & Giannone Are Part of the 60th Venice Biennale

News | Venice, Italy
Our represented artists Chiachio & Giannone are part of the 60th version of the Venice Biennale within the Swatch Faces 2024 exhibition at the Arsenale.
La Biennale di Venezia, one of the most prestigious contemporary art exhibitions globally, under the theme Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere, hosts its main partner Swatch's pavilion at the Arsenale. Swatch Faces 2024 presents a curated selection of six former artists-in-residence from the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, whose blend of contemporary artworks encourages us to explore new territories and new languages. The artists featured in the exhibition include Chiachio & Giannone (Argentina), Maya Gelfman (Israel), Juan Pablo Chipe (Mexico), Luo Bi (China) and Jiannan Wu (China).
Chiachio & Giannone present at Swatch Faces 2024 selection of hand embroideries from their 2023 exhibition Comechiffones, held at Ruth Benzacar Galería de Arte in Buenos Aires, together with the short film of their community action Bordatón, which took place at Isabel Croxatto Galería in Santiago in late 2019. The installation comprises fabrics, embroidery, patchwork and quilts, and invites the audience to engage in a dialogue with the artwork and the artists depicted within it.

Chiachio & Giannone were artists-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai in mid-2018. In 2016, the artists collaborated with Swatch designing the limited edition watch Piolín's Time, showcasing their embroideries - together with their dogs Piolín and Chicha Bettina.

The 60th Venice Biennale takes place from 20 April to 24 November 2024.
