Chiachio & Giannone Featured in Svenska Dagbladet for Their Participation in Wanås Konst 2026

NEWS | Stockholm, Sweden
Artists Chiachio & Giannone, both represented by Isabel Croxatto Galería, were recently featured in the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet in a review of the 2026 summer exhibition at Wanås Konst, one of Scandinavia’s leading sculpture parks and contemporary art institutions.
In the article, critic Otto Ruin positions the Argentine duo’s practice within a visual tradition that combines popular, spiritual, and art-historical references, describing their work as a distinctive Latin American counterpart to artists such as Gilbert & George and Pierre et Gilles. The review highlights the way their textile works weave together everyday scenes and symbolic imagery, reflecting the growing international interest in textile-based practices as vehicles for memory, identity, and collective storytelling.
Particular attention is given to Guardians of Desire, the installation presented by the artists at Wanås Konst. Drawing inspiration from the Andean figure of the Ekeko—a deity associated with abundance and prosperity—the work explores the delicate relationship between desire, longing, and faith. According to the review, the sculptures bring into the public realm a reflection on how people project their aspirations and construct symbolic systems of hope.
The feature in Svenska Dagbladet further underscores the international relevance of Chiachio & Giannone’s practice and the resonance their work continues to generate across institutional and artistic contexts worldwide.
