Artist Fernanda Núñez, represented by Isabel Croxatto Galería, will take part in the Bosque Lumän Residency from September 14 to 28 in Reumén, in Chile’s Los Ríos Region, near Valdivia.
During her stay, Núñez will develop an in situproject grounded in a direct relationship with the forest and the materials of the surrounding territory. Her proposal consists of a series of small- and medium-scale humanoid figures, up to 120 cm in height, to be dispersed or emerging throughout different areas of the forest.
These presences will seek to establish a silent dialogue with their surroundings, appearing as though they were part of the landscape or had emerged from it, creating unexpected encounters along the visitor’s path. The artist will work with kite paper, textiles, and clay, while also incorporating elements and materials found in the area.
The project continues Núñez’s ongoing exploration of sculpture, materiality, and the body, bringing her practice into a context where the landscape becomes an active part of the work. The ephemeral nature of the pieces and their integration into the environment invite a reflection on the boundaries between the human and the natural, as well as on the ways an artwork can appear, disappear, and transform the experience of a place.
Fernanda Núñez’s participation in Bosque Lumän thus expands her practice toward new forms of engagement with territory, developing a sculptural experience conceived specifically to be discovered along the journey through the forest.
