Dear friends,
As we gather with our loved ones and begin to bid farewell to the year, we would like to thank our artists, our wonderful team and collaborators, and you, who have been with us in the projects we were privileged to develop during 2021.
Virtual and On-site Project
We started the first months of the year locked up at home again, but that was not an obstacle to producing what has been one of our most ambitious group exhibitions to date: CUIR, curated by the Argentinean duo Chiachio & Giannone. The exhibition gathered twenty queer creators from all over the Americas in our virtual space ICG+.
Later, we presented Lovesong by Wladymir Bernechea, a virtual exhibition that allowed us not only to take our art from the south of the world to all the latitudes of the planet but also to contextualise the work of our emerging artists in the beautiful and ineffable geography of our country.
When the pandemic gave us a break, we were able to reopen the doors of our house and welcome you to enjoy the exhibitions Sweeter than Roses and The Yellow Brick Road by Víctor Castillo, Un Color Tiene Muchos Rostros by Carolina Muñoz, Ad Hominem by Paloma Castillo, and Underground Future by Vicente Prieto Gaggero.
International Presence
Through the ICG+ project, our virtual exhibitions were visited in more than 30 countries on five continents, blurring the borders for the scope of our proposals. In addition to this, our digital gallery in Artsy has allowed our artists' works to be acquired by collectors in Chile, Argentina, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Romania, Sweden, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates during 2021.
The Art Central Hong Kong art fair is one of our highlights every year. We were able to be present at the hybrid version of the fair thanks to curator André Chan, who selected a series of works by Paloma Castillo that travelled to be featured in the Here/There exhibition. We also began to take our first steps in Spain, where the gallery was present with the solo exhibitions La Tierra Prometida by Coco González Lohse and Ensamblajes Territoriales by Johans Peñaloza in June in Madrid.
Collaborations
Collaboration is an important cornerstone of our work. Not only within the gallery, whose team has grown and strengthened this year, but also thanks to the multidisciplinary work of different agents and professionals that has allowed us to expand the gallery model towards the digital.
In collaboration with HelMel Studios, a gallery of the renowned actor and philanthropist Val Kilmer in Hollywood, we presented the digital form of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, a major exhibition by Víctor Castillo.
In addition, we had the opportunity to work with spaces such as Galería Nueva in Madrid, outstanding curators such as Juan José Santos, Leonardo Casas, Sebastián Valenzuela-Valdivia, and the world-renowned Dian Hanson, editor of Taschen's erotic publications.
Infinite thanks to each of you for trusting in our project and being part of this magical journey.
We wish you all the best for 2022!
