All That is Taste Melts into Air IV refers to the phrase coined by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in The Communist Manifesto: "All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses his real condition of life and his relations with his kind". The phrase states that capitalism - or modern culture - will destroy any institution or any aspect of human life for the sake of its survival and growth.

Here, a cheeky character points to the sculpture of a banana resting atop the painting's frame, in reference to Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and his piece "Comedian", better known as the banana duct-taped to a panel in Art Basel Miami in 2019. Thus, "taste" is melted into thin air through the action of the contemporary art market.
